Best Place to see Cherry Blossoms - Cherry Blossom Festival - JapanJapan
IT'S FANTASY FRIDAY - AS GOOD A TIME AS ANY TO DREAM!" I'm a garden-lover, and avid photographer - what can I say - my bucket-list would be incomplete without this one - 30,000 vibrant pink, blooming cherry trees on the slopes of Yoshino-Yama. Japan's annual spring Cherry Blossom Festivals draw visitors from across the globe for one month in the pinkest place on earth. And with over 30,000 trees simultaneously in bloom, Yoshino-Yama is considered to be both the best viewing in all of Japan, and the pinkest place of all! All that pink aside, and assuming I can tear myself away from my camera for a few moments, what else can I expect from Yoshino-Yama's Cherry Blossom Festival? With that beautiful backdrop, locals and tourists take the time to enjoy Japanese culture and traditions - the Hanakueshiki parade includes mountain priests and demons, tourists join tea ceremonies, and boisterous revelers keep up the focus on tradition with liberal amounts of sake. When night falls, I'll happily follow cherry season tradition and join multitudes of locals and tourists with my bento box and picnic blanket. Imagine, a starry night, strings of paper lanterns, an entire forest of pink outstretched above. And pale petals drifting from the sky. It's currently 6 months before spring (and 6 months since last!), and I'm already dreaming of springtime on the slopes of Yoshino-Yama. I'm hoping there's some truth to that saying 'If you dream about something long enough it will happen'! |
